The construction industry employs nearly 10% of the UK workforce and plays a vital role in delivering the infrastructure that supports sustainable growth. Yet many young people are not aware of the diverse and rewarding careers the sector can offer.
Construction Youth Trust (CYT) is a UK-based charity dedicated to helping young people achieve their full career potential in the construction and built environment sector. With a strong focus on education and skills development, CYT works with young people from low-income backgrounds and those facing significant barriers to employment.
Through a combination of employability training, practical skills development and work experience, CYT connects young people with employers and real career opportunities. Its mission is to inspire the next generation of construction professionals by challenging stereotypes and building confidence and capability.
Goodman’s three-year partnership is supporting CYT’s work in Haringey, North London - a borough where youth unemployment exceeds the London average and there continues to be significant post-school progression gaps, particularly amongst minority groups. As a cornerstone funder, the Goodman Foundation is helping the charity to expand its community-based support, which includes targeted coaching, training and employment pathways.
Construction Youth Trust shares our vision of providing young people, regardless of their life circumstances, with the opportunity to reach their full potential. Through our partnership, we look forward to investing in Haringey’s future workforce and providing the skills that can enable regeneration and deliver essential infrastructure to support economic growth.
