In May 2011 Goodman completed the construction of a 468,000 sq ft distribution centre at Andover Business Park for The Co-operative. This facility was delivered alongside a £21 million infrastructure package which included the construction of a new road interchange providing direct access onto the A303 and formed the first phase of the development of 1.6 million sq ft at the park.
The Co-operative building serves stores in West London and the South of England, and is responsible for delivering ambient, fresh and frozen products.
The building is split into three temperature zones to cover these product lines. The building is designed to a BREEAM standard of “Excellent” and features a number of energy and cost saving features including solar water heating and rain water harvesting.
The cross docked unit and infrastructure was completed in a 40 week development programme and created 890 new jobs.
