Logistics customer story: DPD

Hinckley Commercial Park is one of the Midlands premier logistics developments located within the UK’s distribution ‘Golden Triangle’. The park is situated in a highly prominent position immediately adjacent to the A5, and is located 1 mile from Junction 1 of the M69 motorway which provides access to the national motorway network.

The site was acquired by Goodman in 2004 and a £12m infrastructure project was implemented. This provided a new roundabout from the A5, together with a new dual carriageway into the development.

In October 2006, Goodman developed a 365,000 sq ft (33,910 sq m) national distribution building for Walsh Western. Goodman also completed a 50,000 sq ft unit for Johnson Cleaners in 2006 followed by a 132,000 sq ft distribution centre for Caterpillar Logistics in 2007. The final two plots on the first Phase, units 2 and 3 were built speculatively and are available to lease. The success of phase I Hinckley has enabled us to progress Phase II where we are developing a 350,000 psf National Parcel Hub for DPD/Geopost. The final facility within Phase I of the development has been sold to Eurokey Ltd.

Currently under construction on Phase II is the 330,000 sq ft state of the art DPD parcel delivery hub, set on 32.5 acres.

This prime site is now set to provide further opportunity for prospective businesses, with a speculative development of an additional 165,000 sq ft unit, available in November 2014.
