Our developments continue to respond to changing customer needs and reflect our commitment to reducing carbon and maximising on-site renewable power generation.
Located minutes from the M25 and only 22 miles outside of Central London, Crossways Commercial Park is one of Goodman's most sustainable developments in the UK. It is the first logistics park to feature full rooftops of solar photovoltaics (PV) as we accelerate our commitment to low carbon technologies.
With three properties totalling almost 500,000 sq ft, a 2.1MWp solar PV system was installed during the development’s construction. With the ability to generate almost two million kWh of clean energy each year, customers can benefit from green, low-cost energy that meets their business’ operational needs. As we increase our goals for carbon neutrality globally, this investment is equivalent to removing 464 tons of carbon from the earth’s atmosphere or planting 20,174 trees.
The solar energy generated across the estate will be equivalent to powering 497 UK homes for a year.
However the use of on-site renewables doesn’t stop there. Each property benefits from solar thermal hot water, while an innovative solar wall generates heating for the buildings’ office areas. The flexible system can also be modified, enabling the heating to be used within the warehouse itself.
Supported by a fabric-first approach to building design, the highly-insulated cladding system also delivers exceptional air tightness, with each building achieving an A+ energy performance rating, generating more energy than it uses.
With smart meters installed in each property, customers are able to actively monitor and reduce energy and water consumption to promote positive behavioural change and improve overall efficiency on-site.
