Sustainability and healthy eating are at the heart of UKHarvest's work and this extends to its latest venture, the Nourish Hub, creating a space to bring people together, eat well and learn essential skills for life.
In 2022, UKHarvest opened the doors to the Nourish Hub, a community hub and kitchen in the heart of London’s Shepherd’s Bush that provides healthy, nutritious meals to both paying customers and those who need financial assistance. Using an innovative ‘donate as you dine’ concept, it promotes social inclusion by offering people the option to pay only what they can afford.
Working with the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham and supported by The Mayor of London's Good Growth Fund, it brings together those from a range of backgrounds, alongside volunteers, to combat food insecurity, provide a social hub and connect those in need to vital support and welfare services.
Hear from Ffion Hayward, Nourish Hub Manager at UKHarvest, and Yvonne Thomson, CEO of UKHarvest, as they discuss the flagship community hub and kitchen, and how it’s tackling food insecurity and waste. We also talk to Nourish Hub volunteers and members of the community about what the space means to them.
