of delivery

Hinckley Commercial Park was chosen by DPD as the location for a new delivery hub due to the site's excellent connectivity - adjacent to the A5 and only one mile from Junction 1 of the M69.

Goodman already had outline planning consent for 800,000 sq ft of employment space at the park, securing consent for the DPD parcel delivery hub in just eight weeks under a reserved matters application. Infrastructure for the scheme included the construction of a new estate road and the creation of three development plateaus.

Construction of the parcel delivery hub took place over a 12-month build programme, with partial possession of four areas to enable DPD to complete its fit-out and install its parcel conveyor system. This careful phasing ensured the facility was operational in time for the busy Christmas period.

At 360,000 sq ft, the facility is one of the largest parcel delivery hubs in Europe. Reaching nearly half a kilometre in length, it is capable of handling more than one million parcels a day, creating up to 1,000 new jobs for the region.

The development has provided DPD with the capacity, scale and flexibility to meet the demands of its rapidly growing customer base, while enjoying an optimum location that provides excellent motorway links and access to the whole of the UK.
