CASE STUDY
Working in partnership with the Co-operative Group, Goodman completed the construction of a bespoke 468,000 sq ft distribution centre at Andover Business Park for the UK food retailer. The facility was delivered alongside a £21 million infrastructure package, which included the construction of a new road interchange providing direct access onto the A303 and formed the first phase of the development.
The distribution centre serves the Co-operative Group's stores in West London and the South of England, and is responsible for delivering ambient, fresh and frozen products. The building is split into three temperature zones to cover each of these product lines.
Designed to a BREEAM “Excellent” standard, it features a number of energy and cost saving features, including solar water heating and rain water harvesting, all contributing to the company's sustainable operations.
The cross-docked unit and supporting infrastructure was completed in a 40-week development programme and created 890 new jobs, supporting the local economy and creating new employment opportunities.
