Work underway on a new industrial distribution unit at Derby Commercial Park

Tuesday, 11 August 2015

Global integrated property group, Goodman, is on target to complete a state-of-the-art 323,895 sq ft industrial distribution unit at Derby Commercial Park due by the end of 2015.

To date, progress on-site has been steady, with external yard slabs fully fitted and drainage works 75% complete. The building’s steel works are currently in progress with the first having just been erected.

The new unit represents a £25 million investment in Derby Commercial Park by project funders Anglesea Logistics Partnerships. The partnership between Goodman and Anglesea Logistics Partnerships was formed in November 2014 to develop prime UK logistics space.

The state-of-the-art distribution unit at Derby Commercial Park will feature four level access loading doors, 102 HGV parking spaces, 55 metre service yard, 15 metre clear height and 38 dock levellers. It also offers over 15,000 sq ft of office space.

Charles Crossland, Managing Director, Goodman UK Logistics, said: “We’re excited about the potential for this new industrial distribution unit at Derby Commercial Park – a site primed and ready for development with a turnaround time of just eight months to build a fully operational logistics centre.

“The East Midlands, and Derby in particular, is a popular region for distribution companies due to its central location and access to major transport and road links. Due to the strategic location and a quality Goodman product we are confident that we will experience strong customer interest.”

Derby Commercial Park is a 165 acre site located two miles east of Derby city centre, at Raynesway, and benefits from direct access to major arterial roads including the M1, A50 and A6. £175 million has been invested in the site to date, including a £20m infrastructure programme that has improved access to and around the park. Last year Goodman completed a 630,000 sq ft distribution facility for Kuehne & Nagel at the park.

Planning consent has been received for further developments at Derby Commercial Park including a cross-docked unit of 550,000 sq ft. Up to 3,000 new jobs could be created by businesses occupying these schemes.

Goodman has 16 strategically-located sites across the UK, capable of delivering over 18 million sq ft. Each of these sites offers exceptional access to key transport hubs, including motorway interchanges, ports and airports. In 2015 Goodman will develop 1.7 million sq ft of speculative space throughout the UK in 13 units across six schemes.

CBRE, DTRE and Moriarty & Co have been appointed leasing agents for the new unit at Derby Commercial Park.
