Hinckley Commercial Park Features in the Mail on Sunday

Friday, 12 June 2015

In an interview with the Mail on Sunday, DPD CEO, Dwain McDonald talked about the soon to open facility at Goodman’s Hinckley Commercial Park.

The £100 million development commenced in 2013 and will be fully operational in September 2015, following DPD’s internal fit out. Set on 32 acres, the completed commercial property is almost half a kilometre long with 264 loading docks, and when fully operational will handle up to one million parcels a day.

The new industrial property has been developed to support the growing success of DPD’s business, McDonald said: “Last year we planned for 20 per cent growth on the year before, and it was pretty big on Black Friday alone. Growth came in at 24 per cent. For two days it was insanely busy.”

Further growth is expected for DPD, a key Goodman customer, as new product innovation is on the way, later this year DPD will launch an app of its own, which will incorporate new location finding ideas.

If the customer allows access to the location service on their smartphone the app will allow a driver to see whether the customer is at home even before they arrive. If the customer is out, the driver will send a message to ask if they would like the delivery changed.

Thanks to DPD’s growth and the business’ subsequent need for further logistics space, Hinckley 165, a 165,500 sq ft distribution unit, completed in January 2015, was let to them during construction, strengthening the relationship between Goodman and DPD and providing DPD with an even greater presence on the Park.
