Goodman to develop a new 22,000 sqm logistics centre for Rhenus

Goodman Group (Goodman or Group) has announced that it  is developing a highly energy efficient logistics centre for logistics service provider Rhenus in Linsengericht near Frankfurt. On completion, Goodman will also take responsibility for the subsequent management  of  the  22,000  sqm  facility.  Construction  work  has  commenced,  with handover to the customer scheduled for the end of July 2012.

“Due to our growth projections, we opted for this new warehouse in order to expand our capacity in the Rhine-Main area. The ultra-modern facility will optimise our product range for forward- looking contract logistics,” emphasises Kai Fischbach, a member of the Rhenus Contract Logistics board. “The Goodman concept for the warehouse not only meets our requirements but also the expectations of our customers. In this respect, we are very pleased with the results of the co-operation to date.” A ten-year tenancy has been agreed for the warehouse in Linsengericht.

For the project, Goodman secured an area of around 41,000 sqm in the “An der Wann” industrial park in Linsengericht. “The optimal transport connections and infrastructure, as well as the commitment and co-operation of the town spoke in favour of the location,” explains Andreas Fleischer, Goodman Country Manager for Germany. Linsengericht Mayor Albert Ungermann also spoke favourably about the project and commented: “„An der Wann‟ is an industrial park geared towards commercial enterprises. As such, Rhenus fits in very well here and is a real gain for the region.”

Danny Peeters, CEO for Continental Europe congratulated the Goodman Germany team with this transaction, which is a continuation of a very successful 2011. "The development confirms Goodman‟s position as the leading specialist provider of prime quality logistics property in Germany, with proven expertise, an experienced operating platform, extensive customer relationships and support from global capital partners” said Mr Peeters.

Consideration of the Environment and Surroundings

“The warehouse will undoubtedly be one of the most modern in the Frankfurt region and is planned to be particularly cost effective in terms of operating costs,” emphasised Andreas Fleischer. Highlights of the sustainable features include the heating system, which can be operated with a choice of wood pellets or with wood chips. As a result, the heating costs can be reduced by 15 percent. Furthermore, the extensive greening and noise protection features will ensure that the logistics centre blends in well with the urban environment. Goodman will also seek DGNB silver certification for the warehouse.
