Goodman granted planning permission for a single 1.225 million sq ft unit

Thursday, 06 June 2013

Global property group Goodman has been granted detailed planning consent for a single 1.225 million sq ft warehouse or distribution unit at Kingsnorth Commercial Park in Medway, Kent

The fully serviced 115 acre park, offers unrivalled space in the South East, including outline consent for over two million sq ft of space and detailed consent to accommodate a single distribution facility of 1.225 million sq ft. across 62 acres. Strategically located just
17 miles from the M25, Kingsnorth Commercial Park offers access to an experienced local labour force and has convenient transport links, with a new road connecting the park to the A228 dual carriageway which links to Junction 1 of the M2.

The park is now ready for construction to commence, and can provide one of the largest warehouses in the South East market, where availability of new stock is at a historically low level. Customers seeking efficient, large scale, high quality distribution space, will benefit from the extensive on-site and off-site infrastructure works that Goodman has invested in to improve access to the site from the A228. These include the installation of three new roundabouts, on-site roads, landscaping and plots ready for development.

Goodman is now marketing the industrial and logistics park and will develop it on a pre-let or pre-sale basis to bespoke customer requirements, or land sale basis.

Charles Crossland, Managing Director, Goodman UK Logistics said:

“Kingsnorth provides a unique opportunity for our customers to create units that are efficient and flexible in use, design and scale. Medway is the largest urban area in the South East outside London and has a robust level of economic activity and a highly skilled labour  pool  upon  which  to  draw.  Goodman  will  utilise  its  many years  of  experience creating functional, effective industrial and logistics facilities to realise the full potential of these characteristics that are in short supply in the core South East market.”

Goodman has invested £110 million into its 800 acre UK land bank to ensure that outline planning and infrastructure are in place and the sites are ready for construction. This unique offering dramatically reduces the time it takes to build fully operational logistics centres, a key concern for logistics customers. Goodman has 14 strategically located sites across the UK market capable of delivering over 14 million sq ft of logistics space. Four of Goodman’s UK sites can deliver facilities of over one million sq ft, and eight are capable of delivering over 500,000 sq ft of logistics space.

CBRE, Colliers International and Caxtons Commercial Agency are agents on the scheme.
