Goodman completes new 130,000 sq ft print and distribution centre for A and N Media

Monday, 02 July 2012

Integrated property group Goodman has completed the development of a new print and distribution centre for A&N Media at Thurrock Commercial Park in Essex.

As part of the consumer media company DMGT plc, A&N Media publishes some of the UK’s leading brand titles, including the Daily Mail.  The company will relocate to the new 130,000 sq ft facility from its existing site in Surrey Quays, south east London, in a move that represents a £50 million investment in the new premises and a major long-term investment in the region.

Planning  consent  for  the  centre  was  secured  in  October  2011,  with  construction completed on schedule, in less than eight months. Thurrock Commercial Park is now fully developed, with Goodman having let the adjacent plot to The Co-operative Group and sold the final 12 acres to National Grid.

Jason Harris commercial director at Goodman said: “The completion of this building marks the last phase of our development of Thurrock Commercial Park which has been a hugely successful site for us. A&N media are undoubtedly a key occupier for the area, joining other high profile organisations such as Royal Mail and The Co-operative Group, who have chosen West Thurrock as a key operational base for their business.”

The new development for A&N Media has achieved a BREEAM Very Good rating for sustainability. As part of the planning consent, Goodman included vast wildlife protection area’s to preserve the site’s biodiversity, with Natural England commending the progressive approach in managing the site.

Thurrock Commercial Park is situated within 8.5 miles of Junction 30 of the M25 and the Dartford river crossing. The site is opposite the Royal Mail Distribution facility, The Co-operative Group Regional Distribution facility and Lakeside Shopping Centre is a short distance to the north. Chafford Hundred railway station is also nearby and provides a direct service to London Fenchurch Street and Shoeburyness.
