Goodman and Wilson Bowden announce lease for 130,000 sq ft distribution warehouse to Allport Cargo Services at Interlink Park, in the East Midlands

Goodman a global leader in the ownership, development and management of industrial property has signed an agreement to lease with Allport Cargo Services to occupy a 130,000 sq ft distribution warehouse at its Interlink 130 development situated in Bardon, Leicestershire. The project was developed in partnership with Wilson Bowden Developments. 

Allport Cargo Services have agreed a 10-year lease to occupy the recently completed facility to fulfil a new contract with a leading retailer.  

Interlink Park is a premier logistics and industrial development situated in Bardon, North West Leicestershire approximately 1.5 miles from Junction 22 of the M1 motorway situated within the distribution “Golden Triangle” bounded by the M1, M6 and M42 motorways.  

It is an established and successful location for logistics and home to a number of leading local occupiers including Amazon, Volvo, Antalis, Nissan, Graphic Packaging and Bunzl Healthcare.

The new distribution centre which was completed in March last year, features 124,611 sq ft of warehouse space together with 6,068 sq ft of offices.  It also benefits from 12 dock levellers, 2 level access doors, 12.5 clear height, 50 metre yard and parking for 105 cars.

The development enjoys easy access to Coalville, Leicester and Loughborough which provides a large pool of labour. Both East Midlands International and Birmingham International Airports are within easy reach.

The signing of this lease fully vindicates our decision to press ahead with development in Bardon and the construction of this facility in partnership with Wilson Bowden.  It comes in the face of continued strong demand from local occupiers throughout the East Midlands for new space to expand into”

Also commenting Goodman Logistics UK Managing Director Charles Crossland said: “Throughout the East Midlands in particular we are experiencing strong, repeat demand from our customers for grade A logistics and distribution accommodation to expand into from across our expanding portfolio.

In the 2016 year to date, we have already leased approximately one million sq ft of distribution space to leading occupiers at our Commercial Park Developments in Northampton and Derby, together with Interlink Park, Bardon.

With further additional development, already underway and expected to commence shortly, together with opportunities for bespoke development across our growing land bank, we expect to make further announcements in due course concerning the progress we are making”

Wilson Bowden Development Manager Henry Henson also said: “We are delighted to complete the agreement to lease with Allport Cargo Services. This letting represents the strong demand from the distribution sector, to acquire Grade A logistics space in prime locations, such as Interlink Park, Bardon.”
